Unlock the potential of your Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII or IX with an LRW staged calibration utilizing EcuFlash open-source tuning software. Each calibration is tailored to your vehicle's modifications and fuel type, optimizing fueling, ignition timing, boost control, and overall engine performance.
Whether you're improving your stock 4G63, installing full bolt-ons, or upgrading to a larger turbocharger, our calibrations focus on responsive power delivery, consistent drivability, and reliable performance.
Two tuning revisions are included with each stage.
Stage 1 – Stock Turbo / Stock Hardware
Mod Requirements:
- Factory 4G63 turbocharged engine.
- Factory turbocharger.
- Factory intake and fuel system.
- Factory boost control configuration.
- Cat-back exhaust is acceptable.
- 91 or 93 octane fuel.
Stage 1 is designed for otherwise stock EVO VIII and IX applications looking to improve throttle response, boost delivery, and overall engine performance without extensive hardware modifications.
Stage 2 – Full Bolt-On Calibration
Mod Requirements:
- Factory turbocharger.
- Performance intake.
- Upgraded downpipe and exhaust system.
- Upgraded intercooler and piping recommended.
- Compatible aftermarket boost control solenoid is acceptable.
- Fuel system upgrades as required by the combination.
- 91 or 93 octane fuel.
Stage 2 is intended for full bolt-on EVO VIII and IX applications retaining the factory turbocharger. Calibration adjustments accommodate increased airflow, revised boost control, and the vehicle's specific modifications.
Customers must specify their intake, MAF housing, boost control solenoid, and fuel system configuration before tuning begins.
Stage 3 – Upgraded Turbo Calibration
Mod Requirements:
- Compatible upgraded turbocharger, including supported 18G, 20G, or similar bolt-on configurations.
- Performance intake.
- Upgraded downpipe and exhaust system.
- Upgraded intercooler and intercooler piping.
- DeatschWerks 1000cc injectors recommended (P/N 18U-08-1000-4).
- Upgraded fuel pump capable of supporting the intended fuel demand.
- Compatible electronic boost control system.
- 91 or 93 octane fuel.
Stage 3 is intended for EVO VIII and IX applications equipped with an upgraded turbocharger and the supporting modifications necessary for increased airflow and boost pressure.
Recommended Fuel Injectors:
Our recommended starting point for Stage 3 applications is the DeatschWerks 1000cc injector set (P/N 18U-08-1000-4).

Equivalent or larger injectors from reputable manufacturers may be accepted with appropriate calibration data.
Injector sizing must support the intended power output, fuel type, and operating fuel pressure. High-output and ethanol applications may require larger injectors and additional fuel system modifications.
Customers must provide the exact injector part number, flow specifications, and applicable calibration data.
E85 / Flex Fuel Calibration
E85-specific and automatic flex-fuel calibrations are available for approved ECU and hardware configurations.
Automatic flex-fuel functionality utilizes the community-developed FreeFuel ECU patch, which supports ethanol-content-based calibration adjustments on compatible EVO VIII and IX ROM configurations.
Automatic flex-fuel compatibility must be confirmed before purchase. Not all factory ECU ROM versions are directly supported by the same patch.
Depending on the selected configuration, requirements include:
- Compatible ECU ROM and FreeFuel firmware implementation.
- Ethanol-compatible injectors sized for the intended power output.
- Upgraded fuel pump and supporting fuel system.
- Compatible ethanol content sensor and signal interface for automatic flex-fuel operation.
- Properly installed and calibrated sensor wiring.
- Wideband AFR monitoring and required datalogging capabilities via EvoScan.
DeatschWerks 1000cc injectors are a recommended starting point for certain moderate-power ethanol applications. Larger injectors may be necessary depending on turbocharger size and intended horsepower.
An E85-specific calibration and an automatic flex-fuel calibration are separate services. An E85-specific tune is calibrated for a defined fuel blend, while automatic flex fuel adjusts supported calibration parameters according to measured ethanol content.
Customers requesting ethanol or automatic flex-fuel functionality must contact LRW before purchasing to confirm ECU compatibility, hardware requirements, and pricing.
Required Information Before Tuning
Customers must provide:
- Vehicle model year and EVO VIII or IX designation.
- Complete modification list.
- Turbocharger manufacturer and model.
- Intended boost pressure and performance goals.
- Fuel type and octane rating.
- Fuel injector manufacturer, model, and specifications.
- Fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator configuration.
- Intake and MAF housing specifications.
- Boost control solenoid configuration.
- Engine internal modifications and aftermarket camshafts, if applicable.
- Original ECU ROM file.
Any nonstandard MAF or MAP sensor configuration must be disclosed before purchase. Manufacturer calibration data may be required.
Remote Tuning Requirements
Remote calibrations require a compatible Tactrix OpenPort interface, the appropriate Mitsubishi reflash adapter, EcuFlash software, and supported datalogging equipment.
Customers must submit their original ECU ROM file and order number to Michael.Leto@lrwtuned.com after purchase.
Two tuning revisions are included with each stage. Additional revisions, hardware changes, or diagnostic work may require additional charges.
Important: All calibrations are developed around the customer's specific hardware configuration. Vehicles must be mechanically sound and free of boost leaks, fueling issues, misfires, and unresolved mechanical problems before tuning begins.
Large-frame turbochargers, specialized fuel systems, unsupported ECU configurations, and extensively modified engines may require a separate custom tuning service.
Please review our Pre-Tune Checklist before beginning your tuning session.
